What we collect when you design and order custom apparel, why we collect it, and who else sees it.
Last updated September 2026
What we collect
- Account details: email address, and a name if you provide one.
- Order details: items, sizes, colours, quantities, prices, notes and order history.
- Contact and delivery details: first and last name, email, optional phone, shipping address, optional company name for business receipts.
- Artwork you upload, the processed version we prepare, and the previews generated from it.
- Business account information if you apply: company name, contact details, business type, order frequency and estimated spend.
- Marketing sign-ups: email address and, if provided, first name and whether your interest is personal or business.
- Basic technical data needed to run the site, such as request logs and error reports.
We do not collect or store credit card numbers, card security codes, or bank credentials. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor.
Why we collect it
To produce and ship your order, to show you your order history and saved designs, to calculate pricing and taxes, to answer support requests, to handle refunds and disputes, to keep financial records, and — only if you opt in — to send marketing email.
Who receives it
- Our hosting and database provider, which stores the site, orders, accounts and uploaded files.
- Our payment processor (Stripe), which receives your email and order amount and handles the card transaction.
- Our email provider, which sends order receipts, account emails and promotional email you opted into.
- An address lookup service, which receives only the partial address text you type while searching.
- Shipping carriers, once a shipment is created, which receive the delivery address.
Background removal for your artwork runs inside your own browser. Your artwork is not sent to a third-party image-processing service for that step.
How long we keep it
Orders, invoices and related financial records are kept for as long as we are required to keep business records. Artwork and designs are kept so you can reorder, unless you ask us to delete them. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices and your rights
You can unsubscribe from promotional email at any time using the link in any promotional message, or on our unsubscribe page. Unsubscribing stops marketing email; you will still receive emails about orders you place.
You can also ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw a consent you gave, delete your saved designs, or close your account. Email support@fablabs.ca. We may need to keep records tied to completed orders — invoices, payments, tax records — even after an account is closed, and closing an account does not delete them.
If you are not satisfied with how we handled a privacy question, you can complain to the privacy regulator that covers you. In Quebec that is the Commission d'accès à l'information; federally it is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Information processed outside Canada
Some of the service providers listed above operate infrastructure outside Canada, which means your information may be stored or processed outside the province where you live and may be subject to the laws of another country. We have not published a provider-by-provider location list on this page; a privacy professional should confirm what disclosure is required for the providers actually in use, including the assessment Quebec law expects before information is communicated outside Quebec.
Privacy contact
Privacy questions and requests: support@fablabs.ca. Quebec law requires a named person responsible for the protection of personal information; the business must confirm and publish that person's name and title here.
Privacy or security incidents
We keep an internal register of privacy and security incidents, including what happened, what information was involved, the risk assessment and what we did about it. Whether an incident must be reported to a regulator or to affected people depends on the rules that apply and the risk involved; we do not promise a particular notification in advance.
Where you live matters
Privacy rules differ by province and by country. If you are outside Canada, additional rights may apply to you. This page has not been reviewed against the requirements of every jurisdiction we may ship to; a lawyer should confirm what applies before launch.
